First, Happy 2026 to all. Hopefully, you’re off to a fine start! In this edition, we are going to focus on some of the travel topics related to winter weather. Occasionally, I’m asked what “must-have(s)” I insist are taken aboard when hitting the road during bad weather snaps.
What makes me believe that my solution can solve your problem? I’m not sure, but it’s always nice to at least give it a go and try. Between answering the above and offering some “good book tips,” I believe there is a chance we can make some headway as we all navigate through our daily chores and challenges – even when on the road!
1) What is your “must have(s)” for winter travel? (Arvie L., New Brunswick, N.J.)
I never travel to extreme cold without my travel pack vacuum bags! I make sure to have several available to not only consolidate my packing – but weatherproof all likewise! Please see link below for more information.

2) What are your thoughts about flying during bad weather?
There will always come a time when we must get somewhere despite the ominous upcoming weather forecast. In those times, I try to follow some of the tips like the article below:

3) What books do you recommend currently?
I’m currently reading 1929 by Andrew Ross Sorkin (© 2025)
It is a frighteningly revelatory work which highlights myriad ways in which a country (in this case, America) can take the greedy and careless route to shambles … a “must read!”
Be well,
